It's a Saturday!

Went with a couple of guys from our church to ride in a ride to support the Child Advocacy Center of Mobile . It ended at Christ Presbyterian Church in Daphne (it's across the bay from Mobile), where we were served eggs, ham, sausage links, and pancakes. It was really, really good! The ride home was better. These rides are always led by the police, but at a much slower pace than what I would rather ride. So the ride home was open, the sun shining, the breeze in my face and the speed was great. We simply cruised!! It was a great day to ride and a great ride it turned out to be. Now I'm going to get ready, grab a bite to eat and head to the Franklin Graham Festival . I'm serving as a counselor supervisor. FFH , Joy Williams , and Alicia Williamson Garcia are doing the music. Last night it was Alicia Williamson Garcia , CeCe Winans , and Andre Crouch, with special appearance by George Beverly Shea - the place was ROCKIN'!!!! So. . .gotta go. See ya later, M

It's a Good Tired

I've always believed in a "good tired." A good tired is where you go to bed exhausted, but in your heart and mind know you gave it your all that day. Like when you return from your honeymmon, life on a mission trip, or when you work around the house. Hopefully, you get the idea. Last night. . .I was a "good tired." After devouring a pizza, some fresh iced tea (unsweetened), and watching a movie it hit me - "Man, I'm tired." Then I thought back through the day. I spent some time with God (always a good thing), blogged, cleaned house - no small feat with 3br, 2 baths, lr, dr, kitchen, breakfast area, you get the idea - then went to work on my pond. For those of you who don't know, I've got a pond. Not one of those little hard plastic, kiddie pool ponds. This one is over a 1,000 gallons. After hurricane Katrina the algea got so bad I finally drained it, pulled the liner out and cleaned it by hand. Yesterday, I finished cleaning it,

Rick Warren & the Saints

Yesterday, while I was hangin' with our Pastor he was surfing the net and ran across an article that claimed that Rick Warren had purchased the New Orleans Saints! It's not exactly new, but we had just ran across it. We just started laughing. We knew it couldn't be real, but what if. . .? Then I began thinking, "What if influential, godly people like Rick Warren began purchasing, owning, and being invoved in organizations like professional teams, corporations, and the like?" Good, bad, indifferent? What changes in organizations could you see taking place - like naming the stadium Purpose Driven Field , or handing out copies of Purpose Driven Life ? Anyway, hope you see where this is going. It could be as serious or as outrageous as you could think. Let me know what you think. Mike

Timing is Everything

They say "timing is everything." I believe it more true after yesterday afternoon. You know yesterday's post about the new pet ? Well. . .you won't believe what happened. I had just shared with everyone that I acquired a new pet; a fish I named Sir Vivor . Vivor survived hurricanes, my dogs, my draining the pond, and who nows what. BUT. . .he didn't survive living in the bucket. That's right! I got the tank, got it running - plants and all - and were waiting the suggested 24 hours before I put him in the tank when I noticed Vivor wasn't swimming very well. Actually, he wasn't swimming at all! Yep, ol' Vivor was dead! STINK! Now I've got to go get some fish, because of all I've invested in fish stuff. Oh well. PetsMart here I come! Mike

New Pet!

Well. . .it was bound to happen. I've got a new pet. His name is Sir Vivor . He's a fish. I found him in the pond in my backyard. I was draining the pond to clean it and was just about done when I saw something move in the murky water. Not knowing what it was I jumped up on the side of the pond and began moving the water around when I found something wiggling in the water - a small fish. A FISH! I didn't even know I had fish in the pond! I named him Sir Vivor because he has survived the dogs jumping in the pond on top of him, my draining of the pond, who knows how many hurricanes and storms, and most of all my lack of knowlege he was even in there! It's AMAZING! Who woulda thunk it! So now I've bought him a tank, got it going, and waiting to put him in there. He will have an entire tank all to himslef. At least for now. I figure after all he's been through, why not? Besides, Karen would be proud of me, eh? Mike

Lots-O-Stuff

Yeah. . .yeah. . .yeah. Same song, second verse. I know, don't say it! Been pretty busy lately, but let me do some catching up. Last week went to New Orleans to meet with Randy Hall and the guys and gals from Student Life . They are considering developing adult curriculum and asked some adult ed guys to come and give them some input. So I loaded the Harley and made the 2 1/2 hour trip in great weather. What a ride! But I gotta remember to use sun block next time. STINK!! When my I arrived my arms looked like lobster claws. They were pretty burnt. I had a great time with old friends, but I was also able see first-hand the destruction took place when the levees broke during hurricane Katrina. A couple of friends and I went to the Lower 9th Ward where the greatest break occurred. It was pretty eerie. It was broad daylight and not a soul was around. Homes were sitting in the middle of streets. Houses sitting on top of cars. Stuff spread everywhere. The inside of h
