The Weekend Update

This past weekend we celebrated Cindy's Birthday. Actually, her birthday was yesterday, but I was preaching in Peterman, AL and would be gone all day. So. . .we began the celebration on Friday!! It began when she came in from school - cards, presents that included a pair of North Face pants (to replace the ones I ruined) and a day at Island Day Spa (massage, facial, manicure, & pedicure). Then we went shopping, had dinner at Ed's Seafood Shed on the Causeway, and wrapped up the night with coffee at Barnes & Nobles. Saturday we exchanged the pants for a North Face Polar Fleece - great deal!! Then Cindy enjoyed her day at the spa and I ran errands and finalized sermons for Sunday. While we driving all over Mobile we listened to the Auburn game on the radio and later caught Alabama's mud-stomping of Georgia on TV. On Sunday I drove up to Peterman, AL - it's about an hour's drive from Saraland - to preach the moring and evening services. Had a great tim

Holy Cow - USC v. Oregon State

Can you believe it? The number 1 ranked Trojans of Southern Cal fell culprits to the Beavers of Oregon State. The final score: 27-21 in favor of the Beavers. My-Oh-My! That should shake things up this weekend. Got. . . Bama playing the Dawgs in Athens, OU going up against TCU, the Tigers of LSU matching up against Ol' Miss, and Texas taking on the Hogs All of these except the Tide v. Dawgs should be one-sided. But, as Oregon State proved, you can never take your opponent lightly. What a great weekend for college football. Should shake things up a bit come Monday morning. Hook 'em Horns! Mike

Where to Start?

Got a lot of things to do today and I'm trying to figure where I start. Ever have a day like that? Wondering aloud, Mike

Rocket Man. . .

It's really Jet Man . Check out this video. Not only did he fly, but yesterday he crossed the 22 mile English Channel in about 10 minutes. Is that cool or what? Mike

Update

It's been well over a month since I've posted. So. . .I thought it was time to do so. For about the last three weeks I've been putting in 12-14 hours a day. I get up somewhere around 3:45-4:00 in the AM . Did you get that? AM!!! What the. . .? I get in my truck about 5:00 am to pick up my first load. It takes somewhere between 3-4 hours to turn a load around and get back to pick up another. The customer wants us to take three loads a day. Before you know it time adds up and you've put in 12-14 hours in a day. By the time I get home all I want to do is get a shower, eat, and go to bed. So posting to a blog wasn't even on my radar. I would often go for days without checking my email - believe it or not - or even get on my computer. I've also had the chance to speak at a men's breakfast at First Baptist Satsuma (my boss is a member there). This Sunday I have the opportunity to preach the morning and evening services at Peterman Baptist Church in Pe
