Update!

I've received some notices that I need to update the blog. And until I began to update it I hadn't realized how long it has been since my last post. WOW!! Alrighty then. . . here's some updates on several fronts: Tomorrow morning our church, including the Free Riders motorcyle club of First Baptist North Mobile, will be doing an extreme makeover on a couple of homes in the area. I'm pretty stoked about doing it. It's part of our Extreme Makeover - Church Edition . We are in the middle of our stewardship campaign to raise money for upgrades to our facilities. And as part of the campaign we are going to help some families in the area with their own extreme makeover. What a great idea, eh?! The only problem I have is that we are meet AT the church at 6:00 am Saturday morning. Who came up with this idea? They don't know me very well, do they? If they did they would know I don't even like to get up that early, much less be somewhere else at that time.

First Meeting

Today was the inaugural meeting the Free Riders Motorcycle Club at First Baptist North Mobile . There were four of us - Tom, Charlie, Maurice, and myself. We shared and discussed the vision and purpose of the club/ministry, meeting times, and how we can both encourage each other and be a bridge from the motorcycle community to the Kingdom of God. So. . .for now we are meeting together on the first Saturday of every month at FBNM's Cafe at 8:30. We'll have some fellowship, sharing, praying, encouraging, then go out for a ride. The other Saturdays are meant for us to go out with some of the other groups in and around the Mobile area and influence and reach them for Christ. Afterwards, we went to Chuck's in Saraland for some breakfast, motorcycle stories, and great fellowship. Can't wait 'til we meet again to hear stories of how God has used the men & women of Free Riders to influence and reach people. Someone still needs to let me in on the eatable bugs and

Yesterday I had one of the greatest times of my life. It included getting up early enough to see the sun come up and going to bed completely exhausted. It included investing my time, talent, and touch and watching others do the same. It included laughing my brains out at times and intently listening as people shared their hearts. I could go on, but by now you're probably thinking, "OK, OK!! Get on with it already!" Yesterday I volunteered to be a runner for the Casting Crowns Lifesong Tour ! Our church donated one of our vans and I dontated my time. I had no idea, nor did I have any expectations going into this gig. The promoter called one day and asked if we could get some volunteers to help with merchandise sales, ushering, and running errands. So. . .I volunteered to be a runner. IT WAS A BLAST! I got to hang out back stage, in the hallways, in the catering, go into the dressing rooms, drive the bus drivers to the hotel and, well, anything they wanted. One pa
