5 Scary Words

"Here am I. Send me."

I'm not sure where a statement like that leads.  Well…I do.  I 've said it before.  But it has to be five of the scariest words ever spoken to the God of Creation.  But where does a statement like that lead?

Does it lead to people and places far from home?
Sure!

Does it lead to inner city anywhere working with the less fortunate in potentially dangerous neighborhoods?
Absolutely!

Does it lead to serving with two year olds, 4th-6th graders, or leading a Bible study group?
Yes!

Does it lead to pain, persecution, and imprisonment?
Maybe!

Does it lead to death?
Possibly!

Does it matter?  

Did it matter to Isaiah when he uttered these very words to the Lord?  Don't think it did.  I believe Isaiah surrendered his life…all of it…because it's the thing to do when a person encounters the powerful presence of God…YHWH!  How could Isaiah NOT surrender his life after experiencing healing like he did.

And us…you?  What about you?  Have you uttered those words?  Scared?  I bet!  

Yet it's exactly what the Lord is wanting you do.  It's the perfect response to the God of Heaven who has done everything in His power to pursue a love relationship with you.  

Go ahead…say those five magical words, "Here am I.  Send me."

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. These guys work really, really hard to make your camp stay the greatest. And it was. But I'm exhausted! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too old for this kind of thing? Question for You

I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. They were asking the question, "If you could live in a totally Christian community would you?" Responses varied. I would be interested in knowing what you think. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now. Here's my list of favorite cereals: Then Cap'n Crunch - the original and all-time favorite, and breakfast with the Cap'n - how do you beat that?
