College Football 2011

Well, it's Saturday and it's November. . .means that college football is still on (YEA!!) and some big games are going to be played.  Ok, here's the default game -Texas Tech at Texas.  I don't care how good Texas seems to be, Tech always scares me.  Their style football seems to catch teams off guard.  Even if they have a decent defense.  The Red Raiders have already dismantled a very good Oklahoma team.  At least they are playing in Austin.  I'll take that over Lubbock any day.

Now, for the game of the week and probably the game of the year - Alabama vs. LSU.  I read this week that this game is drawing more attention than last year's BCS Championship game.  Don't know if I agree with that, but it is a VERY big game.  Whoever wins this game will probably go on to the BCS Championship game.  I have to admit that I think these are THE two best teams in the country right now.  I don't think Oklahoma State, Stanford, or Boise State could hang with either team for four quarters.  The depth, speed, athletic ability and coaching of Alabama & LSU is above everyone else.

I don't know who will win.  I think it's going to be a good game.  I will be at church tonight while the Alabama & LSU game is going on so I won't get to watch it.  Oh well.

I do have my favorites, though.  Sooooo. . .

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. These guys work really, really hard to make your camp stay the greatest. And it was. But I'm exhausted! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too old for this kind of thing? Need a speaker that speaks truth with wisdom? Get Randles. College or students. He's good. But the late nights and early mornings - WHEW!!

I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. They were asking the question, "If you could live in a totally Christian community would you?" Responses varied. I would be interested in knowing what you think. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now. Here's my list of favorite cereals: Then Cap'n Crunch - the original and all-time favorite, and breakfast with the Cap'n - how do you beat that? Frosted Flakes - don't get soggy in milk Peanut Butter Crunch - Cap'n Crunch and peanut butter, what's not to like? Wheat Chex - add a banana, mmmm. . .mmmmm. . .good!
