Christmas Eve Traditions

When I was growing up our family had a Christmas Eve tradition.  Each of us (my two brothers and me) would get to open one present before we went to bed.  Mom and Dad usually suggested a present to open.  With anticipation and excitement we would tear into the gift only to find out it was new pajamas or underwear.  WHAT? 

The funny thing was we, alright, I was excited for some reason.  Doesn't make a lick of sense to me today.  Who gets excited about new underwear or pajamas?  I was stinkin' weird as a kid.  Anyway. . .we would put on our new pj's and jump into bed so Santa could come and drop off our goodies.

We also left some cookies for Santa.

Did you have any traditions growing up or do you have a tradition now with your family?

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now.
