And He's My God-Son!

I'm really proud of one of my god-sons. It seems that Seth Whitt and a few friends from Creekwood Middle School in Kingwood, TX raised $13,550 (and some change) for the WWI memorial in Washington D.C.

This past weekend he and two other students traveled to DC to clean up the memorial (read about it here) and then to Charles Town, WV to meet and present the check to the only survivor of WWI - 108 year old Frank Buckles (you can read about it here).

Seth-man!! I'm really proud of you. Thank you for helping us to remember those who gave so much on behalf of our country so many years ago. May we never forget them and their sacrifice!

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. These guys work really, really hard to make your camp stay the greatest. And it was. But I'm exhausted! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too old for this kind of thing? I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. They were asking the question, "If you could live in a totally Christian community would you?" Responses varied. I would be interested in knowing what you think. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now.
