Rob over at Rob's Place blog post this the other day. Couldn't help but to break out laughing out loud - yeah, I can spell it, don't need to abbreviate it.
Are you one of those people who make New Year's resolutions? I used to. . .don't any more. Now I make goals. Goals give me something to shoot for. Goals serves as a check to see if I'm on course. I kinda laugh at the responses I get when I ask people what their goals, resolutions, etc. are for the new year. I really like this one, " I want to be a better Christian. " What in the world does that mean? You're going to do things "better"? You're going to read your Bible - better? You're gong to share the gospel - better? You're going to pray - better? You're going to love your neighbor - better? Hey! Here's a news flash - just be the Christian God always wanted you to be in the first place!! That will be different. That will be "better." Actually get up and spend time with God. For some, tell someone about the change God has made in your life. Take some intentional time to talk with - not to God (with = list...
Yeah, ok, so it the title should read Today is the Day! But I was busy last night so I didn't get a chance to post. So. . .it's Yesterday was the Day . " The day for what? ", you may be asking yourself. Mmmmmmm. . . If you've been tracking things here at Soakin' Up Life you know that I haven't been soakin' up very much lately because I've been so worn out. Well. . .last week the guys I meet with each week for Bible study jumped my case about not working out, running, cycling, or SOMETHING! Then, when got home yesterday a friend of mine TOLD me to get on my bike and hit the road - not suggest, told me to head out the door! I took their advice. I hung up the phone, changed clothes, grabbed my bike and headed out the door for a 20-mile ride. What a difference 20 miles makes. The first 5-10 miles about beat me up, then I got in the groove and started pedaling and looking for places to ride. I've been scared to ride on the roads arou...
Here are a couple of pictures I too last Sunday as I was getting ready to leave church and head home to hunker down for the day. You may have seen the pics Cindy posted of the house, but that was after the major droppage. These are of what I was working in while we were clearing sidewalks and taking care of business before, during, and after worship and Bible study. All this started - slowly, I might add - around 5:00 am. It really started coming down around 7:30-8:00. This is the back of the offices. I drove through here several times, but because the snow was falling at a pretty good rate, tracks were covered up pretty rapidly. This one is looking across the street. Those houses are about 100 yards or less from where I was standing. Can't see them? Neither could I. Between the wind and the snow it was pretty difficult. Oh! Guess what? It's supposed to start coming down again tomorrow!! YIPPPEEE!!!! Stay Warm, Mike
