Thanksgiving

This is the day we are to give thanks. So what am I thankful for?
  • A God who loves me and is faithful to never leave me or forsake me!
  • A wife who trusts me because I trust God and is willing to pack up and ride across this amazing country of our to follow Him.
  • A new place to serve God.
  • For family who supports us and is sad that we are not closer
  • Friends who still keep in touch
  • Stacey - just being the voice on the other side of the phone is all I need sometimes, but is often time much more
  • The opportunity to make new friends
  • Getting to live where an outside activity doesn't have to include a gun, 4-wheeler, or a boat
  • Churches who have been there for me throughout my ministry -Legacy, Carpenter's Way, & North Mobile
  • Opportunity to serve with/under pastors who love God, are transparent, and want to see people meet Jesus all over this world
  • My friends in Tanzania & Tanzania itself - it's where God showed us we were supposed to be in missions - and we are!
  • Parents (both Cindy's and mine) who love us in spite of us sometimes and have done more than we could probably ever repay.
  • I get to go skiing whenever I can now (only 40 minutes away)!!!
  • Friends like Grant and Robert, who is both honest and transparent in life and ministry. Thanks guys for sharing your life with us. You guys inspire and challenge me.
I'm sure there's a lot more I could be thankful for, like the guys and gals serving in the armed forces today who won't get to spend it with friends and family because they are serving somewhere else. Thank you men and women of our military forces!

By now you get the point. What are you thankful for?

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. These guys work really, really hard to make your camp stay the greatest. And it was. But I'm exhausted! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too old for this kind of thing? The worship was great - thanks to the brown band ! Hey Michell, Gabi, Rooster, Noah, and #14. They'll get it. Jon Randles really challenged us with his messages - 7 Marks of a Disciple . Need a speaker that speaks truth with wisdom? Get Randles. College or students. He's good. But the late nights and early mornings - WHEW!!

I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. They were asking the question, "If you could live in a totally Christian community would you?" Responses varied. I would be interested in knowing what you think. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now. Here's my list of favorite cereals: Then Cap'n Crunch - the original and all-time favorite, and breakfast with the Cap'n - how do you beat that? Frosted Flakes - don't get soggy in milk Peanut Butter Crunch - Cap'n Crunch and peanut butter, what's not to like? Wheat Chex - add a banana, mmmm. . .mmmmm. . .good!
