Big Weekend Ahead!

This weekend is a big weekend for a couple reasons:
  1. Cindy and I leave Friday for Gresham, OR where we are going in view of a call to join the staff at Greater Gresham Baptist Church. Gresham is an eastern suburb of Portland. It's beautiful there and what a mission field. We can't wait to see Keith and the gang again and are really excited about getting to meet and share with more folks from Greater Gresham.
  2. Red River Shoot Out - It's probably the game of the week, if not the year. It's a long-time rivalry between University of Oklahoma Sooners and the University of Texas Longhorns. They traditionally play in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl. I grew up with this rivalry and since I'm a huge Longhorn fan. Both teams are undefeated and will probably determine the winner the Big 12's South Division. I CAN'T WAIT!!

Wish you were here. Jerry and I are going to the Fair Saturday, which is where the Cotton Bowl is located...It is an awesome day to be at the fair...you have never ever seen so much TEXAS ORANGE IN ONE PLACE...

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. These guys work really, really hard to make your camp stay the greatest. And it was. But I'm exhausted! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too old for this kind of thing? The worship was great - thanks to the brown band ! Hey Michell, Gabi, Rooster, Noah, and #14. They'll get it. Jon Randles really challenged us with his messages - 7 Marks of a Disciple . Need a speaker that speaks truth with wisdom? Get Randles. College or students. He's good. But the late nights and early mornings - WHEW!!

I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. They were asking the question, "If you could live in a totally Christian community would you?" Responses varied. I would be interested in knowing what you think. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now.
