A Big Day

Today's a big day for several reasons:
  1. Texas v. Missouri - #1 v. #11 has the potential to be battle on the field. I definitely want the Horns to win, but, for me, this is a toss up. HOOK 'EM HORNS!
  2. Alabama v. Mississippi - Is this the game Alabama doesn't show up? Alabama should win this one hands down.
  3. Boston v. Tampa Bay - The ALCS goes to Tampa Bay. Will the Red Sox force a game seven or will the Rays take it in six?
  4. Praise in the Park - Cindy, myself, and a bunch of folks from the area are gathering together this afternoon in Lucedale, MS for some fun, fellowship, and great music from some good bands including 33 Miles and Casting Crowns (did I ever tell you about the day/night I volunteered as a runner for Casting Crowns? Read about it here).


Side Note: Watching Texas A&M and Texas Tech - Aggies winning at the half 23-20. Go Aggies!! Vandy is losing to Georgia, 14-0.


Oh! Did I mention that Cindy and I will be moving to Gresham, OR? That's right! I will be joining the staff of Greater Gresham Baptist Church as Pastor of Discipleship and Administration. I'll begin this new season of ministry on December 1.

Woohoo!!! We are very excited!

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. These guys work really, really hard to make your camp stay the greatest. And it was. But I'm exhausted! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too old for this kind of thing? The worship was great - thanks to the brown band ! Hey Michell, Gabi, Rooster, Noah, and #14. They'll get it. Jon Randles really challenged us with his messages - 7 Marks of a Disciple . Need a speaker that speaks truth with wisdom? Get Randles. College or students. He's good. But the late nights and early mornings - WHEW!!

I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. They were asking the question, "If you could live in a totally Christian community would you?" Responses varied. I would be interested in knowing what you think. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now. Here's my list of favorite cereals: Then Cap'n Crunch - the original and all-time favorite, and breakfast with the Cap'n - how do you beat that? Frosted Flakes - don't get soggy in milk Peanut Butter Crunch - Cap'n Crunch and peanut butter, what's not to like? Wheat Chex - add a banana, mmmm. . .mmmmm. . .good!
