Happy Birthday to Dad!

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday! Here's a picture of him at his birthday dinner. My brother Jerry took it. And am I glad he did.

Dad turned 69 yesterday, but to look at his face he's having a blast. What you may not know about my dad is that he goes to work sometime around 4:30 AM - go figure - puts in a full day's work, then he goes home for lunch, a quick nap, an old cowboy movie and piano practice - he's taking piano lessons for the first time in his life, he just learned a new song using BOTH hands - then about three days a week he goes and does yard work till about 4:30 or 5:00 PM. Now that's a full day! Maybe that's how he keeps his youthful attitude and look!?

I don't know how he does it but I'm proud of him. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. These guys work really, really hard to make your camp stay the greatest. And it was. But I'm exhausted! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too old for this kind of thing? I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. They were asking the question, "If you could live in a totally Christian community would you?" Responses varied. I would be interested in knowing what you think. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now. Here's my list of favorite cereals: Then Cap'n Crunch - the original and all-time favorite, and breakfast with the Cap'n - how do you beat that? Frosted Flakes - don't get soggy in milk Peanut Butter Crunch - Cap'n Crunch and peanut butter, what's not to like? Wheat Chex - add a banana, mmmm. . .mmmmm. . .good!
