I Just Don't Get It

Yesterday was our area's primary vote for president. But you should know that it was originally scheduled for next Tuesday, just like the rest of the state. BUT because that's the big day for Mardi Gras here in the Mobile area, they moved it to Jan 30.

Here's what I don't get - why is Mardi Gras more important than participating in the election process of our next president? There will be a polling place open next Tuesday, but just one in Mobile.

Just goes to show you how screwed up our society is when a hedonistic, self-serving party is more important than the election process of our next president. In fact, even the schools are closed next Tuesday and Wednesday for Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday - the culmination of Mardi Gras, and Lent on Wednesday).

What are we thinking? What are we telling our children and the generations to come?

I just don't get it.

it would have been a ton of fun watching people try to vote with fat tuesday going on. i agree with your point but the thought of the voting going on while moon pies are flying makes me laugh.
