Going to Africa!

As some of you know, I have been praying about going to Africa, specifically to Tanzania. Well. . .God opened the door for me to go! He is graciously allowing me to go to minister to the men and pastors of Tanzania. I am so excited.

This is the first mission trip I will get to go on in five years. It's not for lack of trying or praying . I tried three times while I was in Lufkin to go to the Amazon. In 2003 Karen was diagnosed with cancer, so we were treating her and couldn't go on the trip we cast the vision for. In 2004 her cancer returned and, again, we were treating her cancer and couldn't go on the same trip. In 2005 she passed away AND I moved to Mobile, so that was out of the question. Last year it just didn't work out for me to go. SOOOOO. . .I'm getting to go this year!

Last year our group saw over 11,000 people give their hearts to Christ. That's is not a mission trip, folks, that's a crusade!

Now I just need to raise the money, get my shots - STINK!, and get my stuff together. I will leave Mobile on Sunday, June 17 and return home on Friday, June 29. That means I also have to find someone who will lovingly take care of my babies while I'm away.

Be praying for me as I prepare -
  • Ask God to provide all that I will need,
  • Ask God to prepare my heart to minister to the people of Tanzania,
  • Ask God to go before us to prepare the hearts of the people and the influential men and women in the communities where we will be providing medical & children's ministry and showing the Jesus film
  • Ask God to pour out his presence on us and the country of Tanzania - this may be redundant to the second and third request, but it couldn't hurt, eh?
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or comment and I will reply.

Well, I've got to go and get stuff done today. Found a part for the Harley, so I'm hoping to get it going today, or at least this weekend.

Thanks in advance for your support!
Mike

Hi Mike!!!!! I just found your new blog! Max was asking me what it was because he has been thinking about you and wondering how you are. I am sooo excited to hear that you are going to Africa. We will pray for you, our friend. I am going back to the Amazon for the fifth year, and it is just as thrilling as it was that first year. I still thank you for your vision for this mission. God Bless You.
