That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh, I like it, uh-huh-uh-hu. . .

Am I getting a little carried away with this Longhorn No. 1 thing? Nope - not a little, A LOT!!

I guess it has to do with the fact that the sports writers and announcers wouldn't give Texas the credit they were due AAANNNDDD the fact that so many were making light of the fact that they voted Reggie Bush the Heisman Trophy winner and now think maybe Vince Young should have gotten it. YOU THINK!!???

I thought the Heisman went to the best football player - not the best running back or the best quarterback, but the best player. What was it about Vince Young's stats that didn't convince them before, that finally convinced them last night? Last night he ran for 200 yards (the entire USC team only had 209 yards) - averaging 10.5 yards per carry, and threw for 267 yards. He didn't do anything any different than he had done all year long.

He's cool under pressure, not afraid to take charge, and leads his team. All the while racking up yardage, TDs and wins like he's pickingTexas Bluebonnets (don't really try this in Texas, it's illegal to pick wild Bluebonnets - state flower and all).

And though I must give Texas A&M their due - I think they were the only team who really held Vince in check, he utilized many of his fellow weapons to beat them. Isn't that what great players do?

Even Leinart wouldn't give Texas credit. After the game he said something like, "We were the better team, even though they made the better plays." Come on - GIVE ME A BREAK!! Don't BETTER teams make BETTER plays? And it still comes down to the final score - Texas 41, USC 38 - 'nuff said!

While I was a little upset with comments like this from Lienart, I was very impressed with USC's coach, Pete Carroll and running back, Reggie Bush. They were both very complimentary of Texas, Vince Young, and Coach Mack Brown. They exuded both class and grace in their loss. Thank you men for rising above the rest!

It WAS the game of the century. I am so glad neither team blew the other completely out of the water. It went down to the wire. . .as it should have.

Whew. . .I'm still exhausted!

Until Next Year,
Mike "Hook 'em Horns" Shipp
