First Day

Today was my first day as Pastor of Discipleship and Administration at Greater Gresham Baptist Church. I've had a lot of firsts in my life, but I was really looking forward to this one. I don't know why. Maybe it was because I was, and am, overwhelmed by the fact that God would allow me to sever on a church staff once again.

I like leading ManHeart Ministries and am will continue to be involved in helping guys become the men God designed and desires them to be. I, for some reason, missed being on a church staff. I love the encouragement I receive along with the challenges of ministry. I love the people and the staff I get to serve alongside. I am ecstatic when I get to see, hear, or be part of life change. It's hard to understand. It's a been there, done that sort of thing.

I was a little nervous about today. Can't exactly put my finger on it. But Cindy prayed an incredible prayer for me last night. What a blessing to be prayed for and over by a godly wife.

It felt good to "go to the office." And tomorrow I get to do it again.

It is so awesome to be in the Will of God. To serve Him, to see and be a part of changes that Honor and Glorify our Lord.
God just showed up and showed off and you were allowed to be a part...I am so proud of you as an instructment to be used by our Lord. My prayers are with and for you daily as you serve HIM.

Camp is Good!

I'm home from a week at a student camp - Camp Chaparral . I was there teaching students how God created them for a place of ministry and encouraging them to involved - somehow. . .somewhere. I was also the guest of Pam & Steve Sparks. They are wonderful friends from my Lufkin days. Steve is the Assistant Director of the camp. Better give a shout out to the staff - Hey Mike, David, Heather, Doug, Tim, Nate, Govani (spelling?) - thanks for a great week. These guys work really, really hard to make your camp stay the greatest. And it was. But I'm exhausted! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm getting too old for this kind of thing? The worship was great - thanks to the brown band ! Hey Michell, Gabi, Rooster, Noah, and #14. They'll get it. Jon Randles really challenged us with his messages - 7 Marks of a Disciple . Need a speaker that speaks truth with wisdom? Get Randles. College or students. He's good. But the late nights and early mornings - WHEW!!

Question for You

I was listening to one of the local radio stations - kwyq, The Way FM, this morning on the way to the office. They were asking the question, "If you could live in a totally Christian community would you?" Responses varied. I would be interested in knowing what you think. Favorite Cereals

As I was scarfing down a bowl of Total I was thinking about my favorite cereals. Cereal has always been a part of our family - it didn't matter whether it was grabbing a bowl before school and sitting with my Grandpa as he at a bowl of Raisin Bran after church on Sunday nights. Growing up I had my faves. I would still eat them, but me and a lot of sugar in the morning is no bueno. As many of you can attest, it's not like I need more sugar! So I also have favorites now. Here's my list of favorite cereals: Then Cap'n Crunch - the original and all-time favorite, and breakfast with the Cap'n - how do you beat that?
